Hey guys,

I completely agree with everything Byron said. We aren't the best. It would be ridiculous to aspire to be the best. But we are good. I mean really good. We have 5 people who can look at a song and really hear what that song is and what it can be.

This summer, for me, was one of the best summers of my life, if not THE best. I had no idea how much making music with you fine gentlemen really meant to me until i got to college and kind of had a kick in the face with how much i missed it. Even my song writing has taken a hit because I don't have anyone as talented as you guys to bounce ideas off of.

And Mark, you really give yourself too little credit. I know a lot of songwriters and I've got to say that you (and Byron for that matter) have impressed me more than anyone I've ever met. We all give so much to this band that it has evolved into something that really has the chance to turn into something amazing and epic.

And the righteous thing is that we are all such awesome friends. I love you guys and honestly couldn't think of anyone that I would like to tour with. So, recording, writing, touring, prank calling, I'm down for anything. I'm so down I make gravity jealous.

Mark, I've been thinking a lot of these same thoughts. I've been wanting to send everyone in Sunshine Jackson a message like this, but I think you'll appreciate it most of all.

I know you're not as big of a Beatles nerd as me, but they (and most other popular artists) were/are not the greatest singers or musicians. They worked with what they had. You and I and everyone else we know might be *good* singers and musicians, but we aren't prodigies. I don't think there's anything wrong with that, and in fact, we should be thankful that we aren't.

The one point I do disagree with is that you're not the best songwriter. It depends on what you mean by "best," but damn, have you got an upper hand on 99% of the songwriters out there. Few people look at songs the way you do; the ones who do are millionaires and critical successes. You write great songs, Mark, and you have a pretty massive stock of them. And they just keep getting better and better.

The point is, I've been getting the feeling that when Sunshine Jackson writes or works on a song, we go through a similar process that The Beatles did. We are all meticulous and smart enough to create really great music. Playing and working with you guys this summer has really been the the collaborative highlight of my life. And although mine might have been lacking at some of the shows, all of you have superbly unique and intriguing stage presences. All this stuff in combination gives me the feeling that Sunshine Jackson, if you wanted it to be, could be huge.

I don't know what you're planning on doing next summer, but I'm personally interested in writing enough songs for another record, recording it in a real studio, and touring. Maybe after we finish this one, we could see what some indie labels think - maybe they could help us out.

Anyway, those are just my thoughts. I say keep pushing yourself toward that perfect pop song, and I'll do the same. By the time next summer rolls around, we'll have a Sgt. Pepper ready to record.

I think you should download Revolver by The Beatles and listen to it a few times. Those are plenty of perfect pop songs to dissect.

It's hard to believe it's been a year since we dropped these gems! A little while ago, I had a lady from church tell me she loves the chorus of Cardboard Lover (after which, I felt obliged to explain my crush on Jump5).

And I get so many people who tell me OMG is perpetually stuck in their heads (usually the people only have one head each and do not resemble Zaphod Beeblebrox). Even my sister (who isn't much of a rap fan) can flawlessly perform the entirety of OMG. It's amazing.

I'm not sure when, where, or how, but we should do it again.

Thanks for promoting these projects man. Stay fresh.
